Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 Nido comes with LATCH connectors
This car seat can be used as a rear-facing or forward-facing infant car seat for infants weighing 5-40 pounds. The seat is also convertible into a booster seat for children weighing 22-65 pounds. The base comes with LATCH connectors for rear facing infant car seats and also has two cup holders.
Infant car seats are different from other seats because they come with a base and a carrier. The base will usually have flexible LATCH connectors while the carrier will not. The carrier will use the seat belt to secure the seat. In contrast, all other types of car seats are one-piece units. Infant car seats have lower anchor connectors at both ends of the flexible LATCH strap, which can either be a push-on or hook-on style.
Bases come with LATCH connectors that make it easier to install an infant car seat. LATCH installations are limited due to weight limits, and the LATCH hook connectors can be difficult to disconnect from lower anchor bars in a vehicle. Some infant car seats come with HUGS pads that are too bulky for small babies. While HUGS pads are not required for rear-facing seats, you’ll need to purchase them if you plan on forward-facing your infant.

The Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 seat is FAA-approved and comes with a base and two supportive inserts. The car seat also comes with a warm thermal cover and a plastic rain cover. A convenient travel bag is also included with this seat.
Load leg
A car seat with a load leg can help prevent your child from flopping back and forth in a crash. The leg limits the amount of rebound that the seat can experience in a frontal crash. Think of the rebound of a trampoline: Big jumps have a high bounce, and tiny jumps have a low bounce. Rear-facing car seats, on the other hand, will rebound downwards during a crash.
The load leg also serves as an anti-rebound device. During a frontal crash, the seat will rebound towards the back of the vehicle, and a load leg will help limit this movement by limiting the child’s head from hitting the back of the vehicle seat.
The load leg should extend far enough from the vehicle seat that it can make contact with the seat cushion. The load leg is adjustable and can be installed with or without a base. The weight of the seat should be about eight pounds.
